What should you consider when buying a panel storage heater?

The selection of the right panel storage heater depends on several factors: room size, thermal insulation, desired comfort, structural conditions, and the type of control. Technotherm offers a variety of designs and power levels – the right solution for every need. A well-coordinated combination of heating power, device type, and control is crucial for comfort and efficiency.

Finding the right power for your room

The heating power must match the room size and insulation standard. A guideline is approximately 60–100 W per m² of heated area, depending on the building’s condition. In well-insulated new builds, lower power is sufficient, while older buildings with higher heat losses require correspondingly more heating power. A needs-based design is crucial for efficient operation.

Check installation types (wall-mounted, floor-standing)

Technotherm offers devices for wall mounting or as floor-standing variants with feet. Wall mounting saves space and is ideal for permanent solutions, e.g., under windows. Floor models offer more flexibility, especially for temporary use or rental apartments. The choice depends on the room concept and usage.

Choose the right design

Whether a standard model, a low design for window areas, or a narrow variant for tight spaces – the appropriate design depends on the installation situation. Technotherm offers various housing sizes for flexible placement on wall surfaces or under window sills. Visual integration (e.g., colored heating) in the room can also play a role in choosing the model.

Intelligent control for greater energy efficiency

Precise control significantly reduces energy consumption. Modern panel storage heaters can be controlled with digital room thermostats, weekly time programs, or via an app. Smart home systems and PV coupling are also possible. This ensures heating only when heat is actually needed – for more comfort and lower operating costs.

Why a panel storage heater?

Panel storage heaters combine modern electric heating with efficient storage technology. The integrated fireclay core stores heat and slowly and evenly releases it – for a pleasant combination of radiant and convection heat. The result: high comfort, low consumption, and maintenance-free operation. Thanks to robust construction and manufacturing in Germany, the systems meet the highest quality standards – ideal for living spaces, offices, and modernization projects.

How does a panel storage heater work?

With a panel storage heater, electrical energy is used to heat a solid fireclay core inside the device. This storage mass specifically absorbs the heat and releases it evenly over the entire device surface into the room. Heat distribution occurs approximately 60% via convection and about 40% via pleasant radiant heat – for a comfortable and energy-efficient room climate.

Electrical energy meets storage mass

In the panel storage heater, powerful heating elements are embedded directly in the fireclay core. When power is supplied, this core is quickly heated and stores the heat internally. The advantage: the heat is quickly available after switching on and is released evenly into the room via the large surface of the heater – without localized heat or inefficient losses.

Constant heat without reheating

The fireclay core acts as a heat buffer and ensures that the generated heat is released continuously and controllably. This creates uniform temperatures without frequent reheating. Control is precise via thermostats or smart controls. The system works efficiently and offers high thermal comfort – even with changing heat requirements.

Electric heating vs. heat pump: Focus on investment costs

In direct comparison, electric heaters – especially panel storage heaters – score with significantly lower investment costs. They do not require an outdoor unit, no complex piping system, and no structural interventions in the facade or ground. The acquisition costs are therefore many times lower than with heat pump systems. The installation time is also significantly shorter, which saves further costs – a decisive advantage for renovations, partial renewals, or budget-oriented projects.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Panel Storage Heaters

Consumption depends on several factors – especially room size, the building’s insulation standard, and usage duration. On average, consumption is 80 kWh per m² of living space per year. With modern control and in well-insulated buildings, energy demand can be significantly reduced. Additionally, further costs can be saved by using photovoltaics or favorable heating electricity tariffs.

Acquisition costs vary depending on the model, power, and features. For a single device, they typically range between €400 and €900. Compared to central heating systems, however, panel storage heaters are significantly cheaper to purchase – especially for partial renovations or as supplementary heating.

This question cannot be answered generally, as the choice of the suitable model strongly depends on the respective application area. Criteria include room size, available space, heating requirements, and desired control. Technotherm offers various designs and power levels – ideally matched to the individual requirements of living rooms, bedrooms, and workspaces.

Both systems operate with electricity but differ in technology and heat distribution. Panel storage heaters store heat in the fireclay core and release it evenly via convection (approx. 60%) and radiation (approx. 40%). Infrared heaters generate almost exclusively radiant heat and directly warm solid surfaces. For continuously used rooms, panel storage heaters are usually more efficient. Infrared heaters are well suited for selective or temporary use.

Yes – panel storage heaters can also be used in bathrooms, provided they have an appropriate protection class (e.g., IPX4). They are ideal as auxiliary heating during transitional periods or to supplement existing systems. Models with an integrated towel rail or time control offer additional comfort.
Inside the panel storage heater is a solid fireclay core, which is heated by electrical heating elements. The stored heat is then released evenly over the housing surface into the room – as a combination of radiant and convection heat. The advantage: efficient energy use, constant room temperature, and precise control without mechanical components or maintenance.
